Tuesday, February 9 - All York City School District activities are cancelled this evening. However, the home basketball game will still be held at 4 pm today.
Please Note - Some York City School District residents received an automated phone message from West Shore School District on January 25 announcing early dismissals. Please be aware that any school closings, delays, or early dismissals are also announced on local radio and TV stations and on this website. Also, automated phone announcements from the School District of the City of York will always identify the district by name.
The School District of the City of York mourns the tragic death of Challenge Academy student Shah Jordan and offers our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Counselors are available to district students if they are having difficulty coping with this loss.
City Health Bureau will Administer Second Round of H1N1 Vaccines
The City's Bureau of Health will administer the second round of H1N1 vaccines to elementary students according to the schedule below:
Jan. 19 - Devers School
Jan. 20 Ferguson School
Jan. 21 - Goode School
Jan. 26 - McKinley School
Jan. 28 - Phineas Davis School
Feb. 1 - Jackson School (rescheduled date)
The Health Bureau will be sending permission forms home to the households of all students who received the first dose of H1N1 vaccine in December.

Welcome to our New School Board Members!
Four school board seats were filled, each for a four-year term in the Nov. 3 elections. The following board candidates will be sworn in during the board's reorganization meeting in December (date to be determined):
Sandie Walker Gary Calhoun Margie Orr Beverly Atwater
An addition two seats were elected to fill two, two-year unexpired terms. Julio Aguayo and Tom Foust will serve out those terms.

Free Algebra Refresher Class Offered to Parents of William Penn Students
A free class is being offered for parents of high school students who might want to brush up on their math in order to help your child with his or her homework. No matter how long you've been out of school, you'll benefit from this class and your child will benefit because you'll be able to help them.
Classes are on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 starting January 7, 2010.
