School District Of The City Of York

CALENDAR UPDATE: Schools will be open Friday, Feb. 15 and Monday, March 11

Posted on February 6th, 2019

To minimize students’ exposure to extremely cold temperatures, the district closed all schools on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31. As a result, the district will be open and students will be expected to report to school on the two remaining “snow make-up days” built into the 2018-19 calendar (which you can review here). Those days are Friday, Feb. 15 and Monday, March 11.

We have decided to operate on an early dismissal schedule on Friday, Feb. 15. This will allow teachers and parents/guardians to schedule parent/teacher conferences that were cancelled when schools closed due to the cold weather.

When schools operate on an early dismissal schedule, K-8 students are dismissed at 1:30 p.m. and William Penn Senior High School students are dismissed at 1:15 p.m. Students at the Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy and all Pre-K students are dismissed at 1 p.m.

Monday, March 11 will operate on a full-day schedule.

Consider scheduling a parent/teacher conference with your child’s teacher on the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 15. Contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible to make an appointment.

The following letter to parents/guardians has been sent home with students.
