Elementary students invited to free Codorus Creek canoe rides Saturday
The Watershed Alliance of York invites all elementary school-aged children to participate in the opening of the Codorus Water Trail in downtown York on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
As part of the 14th annual Watershed Weekend, the Alliance will offer 20–to-30-minute canoe rides on Codorus Creek starting and ending at the Codorus Boat Basin at Foundry Park Plaza (200 West Philadelphia Street). This is an opportunity for children to be introduced to an important part of York’s heritage by learning about the history and biology of Codorus Creek.
Each canoe will be captained by an experienced York College student or Boy Scout. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has completed the required information and signatures on the document below. Parents and guardians may accompany their child on the canoe ride if they wish. All persons will be required to wear a personal flotation device, which will be provided. There is no cost for this activity.
The Girl Scouts of the Heart of Pennsylvania will also be present at the Boat Basin during this event with their STEM mobile for all interested parties to stop by.
