Letter: Ferguson student made threats, charged by police

Posted on March 2nd, 2018

The following letter went home with Ferguson students today.

Dear Ferguson Parent(s) / Guardian(s),

This morning, a middle school student was overheard threatening to bring a gun to school to harm staff. Administrators detained the student and immediately collaborated with York City School District Police and the York City Police Department, taking the student into City Police custody. The student has been charged by the York City Police Department, suspended from school, and recommended for expulsion. There was no interruption to the school day.

Student safety remains our greatest priority. Please continue to discuss with your children that it is against the law to make threats such as this and – should your child hear a threat – it’s very important to tell a staff member, teacher, or administrator immediately.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support as we work together for the safety and security of our students, staff, and community.

Sincerely,

Melanie Still

Principal
