Air conditioning problem cancels summer programs at Hannah Penn on 7/19

Due to an issue with the air-conditioning system at Hannah Penn K-8, the ELL/Migrant Summer program and the KinderCamp program have been canceled for Wednesday, July 19. However, students in SAFE Camp should report to Hannah Penn, as Wednesday's activities have been relocated to a nearby church. We anticipate the air-conditioning problem will be fixed and all programs will resume as normal on Thursday, July 20.

State recognizes district for participation in Schools That Teach Tour

Posted on March 20th, 2017

The School District of the City of York is proud to share correspondence from the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education recognizing the district for participating in Gov. Tom Wolf’s Schools That Teach Tour.

In fact, Gov. Wolf visited York City schools twice in 2016.

The governor made his first stop at Goode K-8 in February. Gov. Wolf, joined by Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera, visited four Goode classrooms and also stopped in the cafeteria to see students reading as they ate.

Gov. Wolf returned to York City in September to see the STEAM program in action at Ferguson K-8. He finished his visit with a press conference explaining the importance of STEAM education, especially the inclusion of arts in the project-based curriculum.

Also, in January 2016, Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera visited Goode K-8 to hold a roundtable discussion with students, educators and parents about the district’s progress.

The school district received the following letter and certificate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
