William Penn graduate featured in Martketview Arts installation

Posted on December 4th, 2018

York College artist-in-residence and William Penn Senior High School graduate Jessica Jane Julius is presenting an installation titled “What are you afraid of?” at Marketview Arts, 37 W. Philadelphia St., through Jan. 19. The installation is open to the public free of charge.

Politicians, activists, and scholars often refer to a “culture of fear.” Julius’s community-based installation examines the culture of fear through the lens of visual and performing arts offering a new perspective into how fear pervades every aspect of how people relate to and interpret the world around them.

During the run of the exhibition, Julius is encouraging current York City students participating in the project to analyze their fears, understand their origin, and take power over them.
