Ferguson K – 8

Project builds PRIDE in Spanish class at Ferguson

Posted on September 8th, 2017

During the first week of school, students in Mr. Brian Miller’s Spanish classes at Ferguson K-8 had the opportunity to work on the Marshmallow Challenge.

Students were given 20 sticks of spaghetti, a yard of tape, a yard of string, and a big marshmallow.

Their challenge was to work together as a team demonstrating PRIDE. The winning team was the one that built the tallest freestanding structure measured from the table top surface to the top of the marshmallow.

One group of 7th grade boys successfully built a tower that supported the marshmallow 52 centimeters from the top of the desk!

It was great to see so many teams thinking critically, collaborating, and communicating well to successfully complete the challenge!
