Martin Library strives to have a vibrant role in the development of a culture that promotes motivated readers and learners for life by providing the students a place for collaborative learning, creativity and for developing information literacy skills. Thus, the main purpose of the after-school program is to enrich our students academically, physically and emotionally in a safe environment. Throughout the 2015-2016 school year, the after-school program has provided services to more than 1,100 students with an average daily attendance ranging from 70 to 120 students in each building. Some of the programs these students can participate in during the enrichment period include, but are not limited to, homework help, Leap Into Science, STEM programming, cultural heritage education, yoga, hip hop dance, gardening, photography, theater, creative writing, cosmetology, character education, Bricks for Kids, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. The students also enjoyed many presentations from outside providers such as “The Bug Man,” Zoo America, Bob the “Critter” guy, York Waste-Recycling, the Sheriff’s Department and the York City Fire Department.

To register students, parents can obtain registration forms from their school office. Upon submission, they will be contacted by after school personnel. Parents can also directly get in touch with the program’s coordinators at each building or the program coordinator, Madai Holdsworth at (717) 849-6956 or
