School Board Schedules Hearing for Proposed Charter School

Notice is hereby given that the Board of School Directors of the School District of the City of York has scheduled a public hearing regarding the application that it received proposing the chartering of the Arts to the Core Charter School.  The hearing will begin on Thursday, September 10, 2015 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the administrative offices of the School District, which are located at 31 North Pershing Avenue, York, PA 17401.  If not completed that day, the hearing will continue on other dates as set by the School District as necessary. 

At the hearing, the applicants for the charter school will be invited to make a presentation and they may be asked questions by the School District.  The School District’s administration may also make presentation(s) and may be asked questions by the School District.  Thirty minutes will be set aside to receive public comments, unless a longer time is needed.  Comments will be received only from residents of the School District.  The School District reserves the right to limit the amount of time of any comments.  Questions may be asked by the School District of any individual who presents any comments

Notwithstanding the foregoing, depending upon circumstances, the School District reserves the right to change the procedures and manner of conducting the hearing either before the commencement of the hearing or at the hearing.

School Board Releases Annual Superintendent Evaluation

The Objective Performance Standards contained in the Superintendent’s contract are as follows:

Student Growth and Achievement, Organizational Leadership, District Operations and Financial Management, Communication and Community Relations, Human Resource Management, Professionalism and Financial Recovery Plan.

The annual assessment for the 2014-15 school year was completed on August 20, 2015

The Superintendent met all of the agreed-to Objective Performance Standards with a rating of “Proficient” for all of the Standards except District Operations and Financial Management and Professionalism.  With respect to District Operations and Financial Management as well as Professionalism, the rating was “Distinguished.”
