School-Based Counseling: Pennsylvania Counseling Services (PCS)
We want to help students discover their greatness by providing traditional outpatient therapy within the school walls. Our school-based program targets elementary and secondary-level students with emotional and/or behavioral needs. Students can be referred for services by either school personnel and/or parents. Every school in our district has at least one school-based therapist to serve our students and families.

Community and School-Based Behavioral Health (CSBBH)
The Community and School-Based Behavioral Health (CSBBH) team program is a voluntary mental health service for youth and their families. Youth ages five to 18 years who demonstrate an emotional or behavioral disturbance that interferes with their ability to be educated and to function in other settings may be appropriate for participation. Certain youth up to age 21 who are still in school or with an individualized educational program (IEP) may be appropriate for participation.
The CSBBH team is based in the school but delivers services to the youth and family in the school, home, and community settings as needed. Each team is comprised of a number of licensed, master’s prepared clinicians and bachelor’s prepared staff who work together to serve a flexibly sized caseload of youth and families. As compared to other community-based behavioral health services, the CSBBH team delivers services to the youth in a more flexible manner at times of clinical need.
Schools that have CSBBH are Davis, McKinley, and Hannah Penn. If your child is student at one of those schools and you feel you and your family would benefit from the program, please contact the school social worker.

Student Assistance Program
The Pennsylvania Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a systematic team process used to mobilize school resources to remove barriers to learning. SAP is designed to assist in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues which pose a barrier to a student’s success. The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program is to help students overcome these barriers so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school. The School District of the City of York has a partnership with MH/IDD and with TrueNorth to support our students assistance program.
