Davis students organize collection for Hurricane Harvey survivors

Posted on September 11th, 2017

After watching CNN student news and the coverage on Hurricane Harvey, fourth graders in Ms. Christina Powers’ class at Davis asked their teacher what they could do to help.

The class discussed some options and the students decided to organize a casual dress day to raise money.

They drafted an email to Principal Sweitzer and Assistant Principal Wolfgang asking for permission to hold a fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey victims. When they got the OK from their principals, students created flyers, counted them and handed them out to classrooms.

On Wednesday, they collected the money and helped to count the donations. They were super excited to take this picture and send it out to the Davis staff. The school raised $372.66!
