Inspired by the field of education, she later earned a graduate degree in Multicultural Education, Special Education Certification and Principal Certification from Eastern University.
Mrs. Mathis continues to seek to understand the needs of youth and how to meet and exceed expectations through extended learning, research and experience. She was a Special Education teacher for a number of years and is very passionate about meeting the needs of each individual learner. She believes in the power of education and seeks to share that insight with her students and staff through her own experiences as an at-risk youth.
Parent and family engagement is one of the most important goals to Mrs. Mathis on her journey to maximizing all student potential in leadership and academic achievement. She welcomes feedback and ideas on how to take Ferguson K-8 to the top.
