Meet the Principals
Deanna Bowman, Principal
The Principal at Jackson K-8, Deanna Bowman has been a teacher in the School District of the City of York since 2004. Ms. Bowman began her career as a 6th grade Social Studies teacher at Hannah Penn. Throughout the years she has taught all 6th grade subjects. For the past four years she has been an Instructional Coach at McKinley K-8.
Ms. Bowman holds a degree in Business Administration, a K-6 Elementary Education certification, an N-12 Special Education certification and a K-12 Principal’s certification.
Ms. Bowman enjoys working in the School District of the City of York and intends to spend her educational career serving this community.
Ashley White, Assistant Principal
Ashley White serves as Acting Assistant Principal at Jackson K-8. She is a 2008 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, where she majored in K-6 elementary education. Additionally, Ms. White is also certified in Middle-Level English for grades 7-9. Ms. White has her K-12 Principal certificate and earned her first master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University in 2019. She is currently working on her second Master’s Degree in Student Resilience and Diversity from York College of Pennsylvania with an endorsement for K-12 Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness.
Ms. White has taught PreK through second grade along with Intervention for grades K-4 over the past 12 years and fell in love with urban education in 2011 when she taught in Harrisburg City.
Ms. White believes in the power of relationships, collaboration, and high expectations. She values the importance of making sure that all students know that they are valued, supported, cared for, and challenged to be the best they can be.
