"Dr. Andrea Berry-Brown: Good morning. Welcome to our second Community Take 5. Today I have a special guest with me. I have our school chief of police, Chief Quinn Johnson, and we're going to talk about safety today.
Question: What specific measures are in place to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff within school buildings?
Chief Quinn Johnson: Actively monitoring interior, exterior of the school buildings, K-9 patrols, physical security, and also we utilize security infrastructure.
Question: How does the school police department collaborate with students and staff to promote a culture of safety and prevent potential issues before they arise?
Chief Quinn Johnson: Training all stakeholders in situational awareness, Safe2Say, having an open-door policy. Parents can come to any school district building for any assistance.
Question: What steps should parents take if they have concerns about their child's safety, either on school grounds or during their commute?
Chief Quinn Johnson: Parents can either email schoolpolice@ycs.k12.pa.us, call any school building, or report to any school district buildings.
