Dear SDCY Families,

We know that many families in our district have concerns and questions about the changing immigration laws and policies. The School District of the City of York (SDCY) is committed to ensuring that all students and families feel safe and welcome in our schools—regardless of immigration status, background, race, religion, or any other factor.

We value the diversity of our students and believe that every child should be able to learn without fear. SDCY does not ask about the immigration status of students or parents, including during enrollment. We will continue to follow school safety protocols, district policies, and state and federal laws, which outline who can contact students during the school day and who has access to student records.

Additionally, SDCY does not share personal student information without parental consent. We also maintain strict security measures to ensure that only authorized individuals can enter our school buildings.

In uncertain times, we want families to know that SDCY remains a place where students can learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment. If you or your child need assistance, please contact your child’s school.

Sincerely,

Andrea J. Berry-Brown, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
