"Greetings Bearcat parents and families it is a pleasure to be before you this week to talk about first our budget process. We are in the surveying portion of the budget process and last week I need to give you a round of applause for showing up big and filling out surveys on our website and social media in regards to academics. We have tripled the amount of survey responses from last year which is a great sign that you are letting your voices be heard. This week we have a new focus on finance and buildings and grounds. Please once again fill out the survey it will take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to have your voices heard in this area let's top what we did last week and have our voices heard to be a part of our budget presentation
We are almost to the midpoint of the third marking period, very hard to believe, February 14th is the midpoint of the marking period. It's a great time to check in with your students and teachers to see what type of progress they're making. What help they may need or if there is a possibility that they may have to attend summer school. So I'm asking you to check in with your teachers and check in with your students about their progress. The official marking period ends on March 21st so there's still time for our Bearcat students to put their best feet forward and we need your families to help us to do that. Check in with those teachers and check in with your students so they can maximize their success for the third Market period
On February 24th we will have a mindful matters of the heart night where you can take CPR classes as well as AED courses at the high school. Please consider attending, check our website, and check in with the high school website to see exactly what those times are. What a great opportunity and also on February 27th we will have our black history month trivia night again at William Penn Senior High School again please look out for those flyers as well as those messages on social media and please plan to attend.
Families as we continue to muddle through the third marking period I want to take some time to focus a little bit on attendance. Attendance is critical in the School District of the City of York. If students are not here they can't be present to learn. So we want to make sure that absences are minimal or non-existent and if students have to be absent that those absences are properly excused so they do not count against students and they do not drop their grades. Please take time to look at your students Sapphire portal and see what type of absences need to be excused from that portal. Also please encourage your Bearcat students to be at school each and every day ready to learn.
The district is heavily recruiting for teachers, instructional aides as well as other support services please visit our website if you are interested in becoming a part of our team. Visiting the website will show you not only current openings but will give you an idea of pools that we are collecting applications for for future openings.
