Dear Bearcat Families,
We want to keep families informed as we monitor a Winter Storm Watch this weekend. The district carefully considers the safety of students and staff when making decisions related to school operations. If schools need to close next week, families will be notified of either a Snow Day, when schools are closed, or a Virtual Learning Day, when students will learn from home. Because weather conditions may change, decisions could vary throughout the week as more information becomes available.
To help families prepare, student devices will be sent home today, Friday, January 23, 2026, so students are ready for learning if a Virtual Learning Day is needed. We understand that weather decisions impact our community differently. Being together in school is important, and we work hard to stay open when it is safe. That is why decisions are grounded in reliable data and clear safety standards that put the well-being of our school community first. When students return to school, all district-issued devices must be brought back fully charged and in good working condition, free from damage. Families will receive timely communication as decisions are made.
Sincerely,
SDCY Administration
