Our Student Services Department recently toured several local community organizations in York City, receiving information about educational and recreational programs and services available to students and families. The team met with organizational leaders and program staff at Crispus Attucks, Martin Library, and Voni B. Grimes gym. The day also consisted of a walking tour of Mural Park in the city's Royal Square neighborhood. Their tour, entitled "Fall in Love with York City", was coordinated by WPSHS school counselor, Dr. Alana Barnes.

For this month’s STEAM Challenge: “Anything but a Backpack”, our William Penn STEAM Academy were tasked with designing and building a wearable bag that could withstand the ultimate test of speed, strength, and style.

Using the Engineering Design Model, students teamed up to create a bag that safely carried a set of items as they raced through an obstacle course.

Reprogram York Highlight ✨

The School District of the City of York has recently partnered with Reprogram York to offer Therapeutic Arts Based enrichment programming for our students participating in the Bearcat Opportunities Program.

During a recent session, our students learned about the basics of barbering with local barber stylist, Ronda Gould. From mastering clipper control to understanding haircut techniques, students gained hands-on experience and insight into the art and skill of barbering.💈✂️Stay tuned for more highlights!

We would like to give a shoutout to four of our William Penn Senior High School Concert Choir Students—Mya Bruno, Gabriela Camilo, Wilbur Frankel, and Trinity Miles who recently participated alongside 200 participants in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's York County Chorus Festival.

From the full day rehearsal to the final concert, it was an experience full of joy and beautiful music! 🎶
