As we embark on a new school year, we are excited to invite you to our first parent and family engagement event of the year: the “Meet, Greet, and Treat” hosted by the Student Services Department and the Parent Advisory Council. This event will take place on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The York City Fire Department and community agencies have partnered to create a program called “Prevent#10.” You can view a video about this program using the link below. While supplies last, this program enables the York City Fire Department to also provide smoke detectors to our families. Join the Devers Kindergarten team on Friday, August 16 from 3-6pm at Gift Horse Brewing Company for Happy Hour. All proceeds go towards funding educational experiences for Devers Kindergarten students. Bearcat Families: Beginning July 29th, through August 16th, the School District of the City of York will be holding open student enrollment at the district administrative office located at 31 N. Pershing Avenue, during the hours of 8:30am through 3:30pm. According to the PA Department of Education, any student who will be 6 years of age or older by August 31, 2024, should be enrolled in public or private school. Students who will be 5 years of age by August 31st may be admitted to Kindergarten. Parents/Guardians should bring proof of residency, immunizations and legal verification of the student’s age. The application may also be completed online from the comfort of your home, in your preferred language, by visiting our district website. Families who need assistance with the immunization process may sign up for our vaccination camp. Information for this will be available at registration and is on the district’s website. 2024-2025 School Year Devers Families, With the upcoming school year quickly approaching we would like to take this time and inform you about our Uniform Policy that we hold here at J.L. Devers K-8. A standardized dress code allows a focused attitude towards learning and creates a sense of unity by eliminating name brands and symbols that might create a sense of separation for our students. Required attire varies by students’ grade level and are detailed below. All students must arrive at school in Dress Code and remain in Dress Code while on school property.
