What does my child need medically to begin the next school year?
Immunizations required by Pennsylvania School Law
Students who have not provided documentation that they have received the required vaccines within 5 days of starting school are at risk of being excluded. This includes Bearcat Cyber Academy students.
For all grades:
Four doses of tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (one dose on or after the 4th birthday)
Four doses of polio (fourth dose on or after 4th birthday)
Two doses of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
Three doses of hepatitis B
Two doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity
7th Grade:
In addition to all other required school immunizations:
One dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) by the first day of 7th grade
One dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) by the first day of 7th grade
12th Grade:
In addition to all other required grade school immunizations:
One dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) by the first day of 12th grade.
If you know your child has received the required immunizations for their grade level you can do any of the following:
Bring the documentation to your child’s school
Email the documentation to Nurses@ycs.k12.pa.us
Fax the documentation to 717-356-0422
Have your child’s medical provider fax the documentation to 717-356-0422
If you are not sure if your child has received the required immunizations for school you can do either of the following:
Contact your child’s medical provider or your child’s school nurse
If your child needs immunizations you can do any of the following:
If your child has private medical insurance or CHIP
Schedule an appointment with your child’s medical provider
If your child has Medical Assistance or no medical insurance
Schedule an appointment with your child’s medical provider
Call the York City Health Bureau to schedule an appointment for at 717-849-2299

Physical exams required by Pennsylvania School Law
All children must have proof of having received a physical exam upon original entry into school, usually kindergarten, and in grades 6 and 11. This exam must have been done within 1 year from the start of school.
If you know your child has received the required physical exam for their grade level you can do any of the following:
Bring the documentation to your child’s school
Email the documentation to Nurses@ycs.k12.pa.us

Have your child’s medical provider fax the documentation to 717-356-0422
If your child needs a physical exam, you can do any of the following:
Contact your child’s medical provider to schedule an appointment for the exam.
After the exam, have your child’s medical provider fax the documentation to 717-356-0422
For students who will be in 9th-12th grade only
