Some of our little Bearcats at Smith STEAM Academy recently experienced a petting zoo while learning about various animal groups, such as what they like to eat, what region of the world they are from, and some of the fun activities they like to do.

Ten 3rd and 4th grade students here at STEAM were selected to compete against 65 other area teams at the York County Envirothon held at John Rudy Park.
Both the STEAM teams ("The STEAM Slippery Snakes" and "The STEAM Bumpy Toads") earned bronze awards for their hard work. The students have been working twice a week after school since January, as well as time at home on their own, to learn about birds, trees, frogs and toads, fish, ponds, and renewable resources.
In addition to their awards for their knowledge on these topics, the STEAM Slippery Snake team also took the award for best teamwork!
We are so proud of how much hard work these students put into our first Envirothon team!
8th grade students, it's time to LEVEL UP!

The K-8 STEAM Academy interest form for the 2025–2026 school year is now open! Families interested in having their child attend E.F. STEAM Academy should complete the online form by Wednesday, June 12. Space is limited by grade level, and priority is given to new applicants who have siblings currently enrolled at STEAM Academy.
Enrollment communications will be shared via email once interest forms are reviewed. All K-8 schools have also received paper copies of the interest form for families who need them.
Join us on Thursday, May 15, from 5–7 PM for our annual STEAM Showcase! This event is a great opportunity for new families to visit the school, explore student projects, and learn more about our unique learning environment.

March is Youth Art Month and Music in our Schools Month! To celebrate, Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy students created projects that expressed how music shapes the way that we produce and view art.

Ms. Wonders' class at Smith STEAM Academy have been reading "Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?" Ms. Wonders and her students enjoyed picking out a character from the book, creating and designing a paper plate mask for that character and then acting it out. The students also helped to create Wacky Wednesday snack mixes to pass out to teachers as a pick me up for the week.
