Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this letter finds you well. At William Penn Senior High School, we are committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares our students for success in their academic and professional futures. One of the most crucial factors in achieving this success is consistent and punctual attendance.
Regular school attendance is vital for several reasons:
Academic Achievement: Students who attend school regularly are more likely to keep up with coursework, participate in class discussions, and perform well on assessments.
Skill Development: Daily attendance ensures students develop important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and perseverance.
Future Success: Research shows that students with strong attendance records are more likely to graduate on time and have better opportunities in college and the workforce.
School Community: Attendance fosters engagement with teachers, peers, and extracurricular activities, which contribute to a well-rounded educational experience.
Students will have five minutes to transition between each class. Those who are tardy will face progressive discipline as outlined in our school policies.
We understand that occasional absences due to illness or emergencies are unavoidable. However, we encourage you to schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible and to communicate with us if your child faces challenges that impact their attendance.
Please note that repeated absences, whether excused or unexcused, can significantly hinder a student’s progress. Our school has policies in place to address attendance concerns, including parental notifications, support services, and intervention plans when needed.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring that your child is present and engaged in their education. If you have any questions or need support in addressing attendance-related issues, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 717-849-1218.
Thank you for your continued support in making William Penn Senior High School a place of learning, growth, and success for all students.
Sincerely,
Keith D. Still
Principal
William Penn Senior High School (WPSHS)
