Ms. Wonders' class at Smith STEAM Academy have been reading "Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?" Ms. Wonders and her students enjoyed picking out a character from the book, creating and designing a paper plate mask for that character and then acting it out. The students also helped to create Wacky Wednesday snack mixes to pass out to teachers as a pick me up for the week. #BearcatPride🐾

McKinley PreK-8 took center stage at our School Board Committee meeting last evening with a fantastic presentation, showcasing what makes their school special, sharing data, and highlighting student and staff support. To start off the presentation, the McKinley Choir, led by Ms. Erin Thomas, performed a preview of their song titled "Nothing is Gonna Stop Me" which will also be performed at McKinley's Night of Music in May. A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the Celebrating Families Award to Tyrice Fenwick, who exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated partner in education. Thank you, McKinley, for your commitment to excellence and community! #BearcatPride🐾

🌟 Celebrating National SEL Day! 🌟 This Monday, March 3rd, we recognize National Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day, a time to highlight the importance of building strong relationships, fostering emotional intelligence, and creating a culture of empathy in our schools. This month’s district theme is "Finding Common Ground – Resolving Conflicts Peacefully." Davis Kindergarten Bearcats in Mrs. Garr's class participated in restorative circles, which are a daily practice in their classroom. Students share about their weekends while passing the watermelon, practice mindfulness with belly breathing, and spread kindness by writing positive notes to classmates. These activities foster connection and community!
