In honor of Women’s History Month, William Penn Senior High School partnered with Deborah Chapter #26 of York, PA to host a small girls empowerment session this afternoon. WPSHS students received some encouraging words, participated in a meaningful SEL activity centered around positive affirmations, and were also gifted personal care packages.

Smith STEAM Academy took center stage at our School Board Committee meeting last evening with a fantastic presentation, showcasing what makes their school special, sharing data, and highlighting student and staff support.

To start off the presentation, a group of STEAM students showcased the inventions that they made for the recent Invention Convention Competition. We would like to give a special shoutout to our Bearcats for their creativity and hard work!

A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the Celebrating Families Award to Anthony Collier, who exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated partner in education.

Our Hannah Penn PreK-8 Bearcats in Ms. Nicole Marjomaa’s Pre-K class recently wrapped up their Mix and Make unit with a fun and refreshing activity! 🍋

Students put their learning into action by mixing and making their own lemonade. Afterward, they had the chance to taste test their creations and decide which one they liked best. It was a sweet way to explore measuring, mixing, and trying something new!

To continue with Read Across America Week, Davis PreK-8 Bearcats in Mr. Nathan Leierer’s 4th grade class recently welcomed York City Mayor Sandie Walker. Mayor Walker read the fun and thought-provoking book titled, “How Much is a Million?” by author David Schwartz. Students enjoyed breaking down complex numbers in a way that made learning fun.

In honor of Read Across America Week, our Davis PreK-8 Bearcats in Mrs. Chelsea Millan’s Kindergarten classroom recently received a special visit from local community member and author, Dr. Sherry Washington. Due to inclement weather, the School District of the City of York will operate on a 2-Hour Delay Schedule today, March 3, 2026. Students in grades 9-12 should report to school by 10:00 AM. Students in grades PreK-8 should report by 10:30 AM. Breakfast will not be served today due to the 2-Hour Delay Schedule. Teachers and 10-month employees are expected to report two hours after their contracted start time. 12-month employees should report at their normal time. All District offices will open on time.
