WPSHS MiniTHON Club members recently visited Penn State's main campus to experience and participate in the annual Penn State University THON! The grand total for this year’s THON came out to $18.8 million! This money was raised to support the children and families associated with the Four Diamonds' MiniTHON. Four Diamonds aims to fight against childhood cancer and help create funding for pediatric cancer research initiatives.

Earlier today, William Penn Senior High School hosted their annual Divine Nine Day and Meet the Greeks event. The event began with students attending a panel discussion where they were able to learn about the nine historically black fraternities and sororities.

Following the panel, students were invited to attend the Meet the Greeks showcase where they had an opportunity to receive additional information on each of the organizations.

Goode PreK-8 took center stage at our School Board meeting last evening with a fantastic presentation, showcasing what makes their school special, sharing data, and highlighting student and staff support.

A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the Celebrating Families Award to Kareem Anderson, who exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated partner in education.

We would like to congratulate Goode PreK-8 on recently competing in the National Imagine Learning Literacy Bowl! Out of 9,700 eligible schools across the United States, Goode PreK-8 was selected as one of the top ten schools nationwide! Imagine Learning Language and Literacy is a supplemental program that supports our English Learners in practicing and strengthening their English language skills.

This incredible achievement highlights the hard work and growth of our English Learners and the dedication of our ELD specialists, teachers, staff, and administrators. Congratulations Bearcats!

In honor of Black History Month, we would like to highlight Ms. Ella J. Robinson. Ms. Robinson made history as the first African American to graduate from York High in 1868. After graduating, Ms. Robinson went on to pursue a career in education that spanned over 48 years. She began her educational career as a teacher’s aide at Smallwood School before becoming a full-time teacher, then ultimately serving as Principal for several years.

This research was provided by Ms. Samantha Dorm, local historian.
