Penn State University of York recently visited Ms. Funk's Horticulture classroom at the high school to work with the students on dissecting ticks for their pesticide unit. The Horticulture program teaches students how to cultivate and manage various types of plants. #BearcatPride🐾










We are proud to announce that Yury Hernandez (10th grade/Flute), Manuel Garcia (10th grade/Tenor Sax), Francisco Soto (10th grade/Trumpet), and Sha'Nyah Spencer (11th grade/Clarinet) were selected and will represent William Penn Senior High School and the entire district in the upcoming Annual York County High School Honors Band Festival. These musicians will join approximately 142 other 9th-12th grade band students representing 19 schools and school districts across York County. Congratulations Bearcats and best of luck! 🐾

Earlier today, several students in grades 9-12 received certificates and were recognized for being Students of the Month, making honor roll, and having perfect attendance for the first marking period. Congratulations Bearcats! 🐾










Some of our Freshman Academy students at William Penn Senior High School were recognized today for receiving honors (distinguished honor roll, high honor roll, and honor roll) as well as having perfect attendance for the first marking period. Students who were selected by their teachers for showing their Bearcat P.R.I.D.E. throughout the marking period were also recognized. We're thrilled to announce that two members of the William Penn SHS DECA team is heading to the State Competition! DECA is a business club that is taught by Ms. Melanie Wilson at the high school where students are given the opportunity to learn about marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship. Yesterday, a group of our outstanding William Penn students represented the School District of the City of York at York College, with Alexa Pimental Rosario and Eladia Sandel securing our team’s spot at the state level. The William Penn Senior High School College and Career Readiness Program and Talent Search Program recently took a group of William Penn SHS students to Shippensburg University for a tour of the campus. During the tour, students were able to engage with Shippensburg University faculty and staff, learn about the programs, campus resources, and the overall student experience. 🐾

The piano lab at William Penn Senior High School has been revitalized with 20 new Yamaha Clavinova pianos! Special thanks to Ms. Ellen Ditmer, Choral Director and Piano Teacher, for leading the project, and to district administration, the school board, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kate Fritz for their support. Menchey Music assisted by removing the old keyboards and setting up the new pianos for our students to enjoy!

Some of our William Penn Senior High School STEAM Academy students recently attended a Women in STEAM conference hosted by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's WTS program. Our students analyzed different dynamics that aide in designing traffic intersections, built mock retaining walls, and spoke to various professionals throughout the transportation industry.
Congratulations to Senior, Erica Nhor on receiving a $1,500 scholarship. Students, Akira Williams Latorre and Trinity Miles, were part of a team that won the retaining wall challenge.

Some of our young Bearcats at McKinley PreK-8 had fun participating in McKinley's first ever Thanksgiving balloon parade today! Other classes stood in the hallways and clapped and cheered for students as they passed by. 🐾
