As part of their Annual Holiday Sharing Tour, the William Penn Singers and Light Up Ensemble made a stop at the Central Administration Building before going to visit local nursing homes to spread more holiday cheer!

We would like to congratulate the following William Penn Senior High School students on being selected to represent William Penn and the district in the Annual York County High School Honors Band Festival.
🐾 Klarra Derr (9th grade/Bass Clarinet)
🐾 Yury Hernandez (11th grade/Flute)
🐾 Manuel Garcia (11th grade/Tenor Sax)
🐾 Francisco Soto (11th grade/Trumpet)
🐾 Sha'Nyah Spencer (12th grade/Clarinet)
These musicians will join approximately 148 other 9th-12th grade band students representing 19 schools and school districts across York County. The festival will conclude with a concert on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2:30 PM in South Western High School's auditorium (200 Bowman Road, Hanover, PA 17331). The doors will open at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $10.00, can be purchased at the doors, and all seats are general admission.

In collaboration with the William Penn Student Services team, Family First Health invites all SDCY families and staff, to our Student Services Night on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM in the William Penn Senior High School Cafeteria (Door #15).
This event will highlight available health services, including school-based health centers, the Mobile School Dentist program, and community health services at the George Street Center, with giveaways available while supplies last. We hope to see you there!

Our district's PreK team took center stage at last evening’s School Board meeting with a fantastic presentation, showcasing what makes their program special through sharing data and highlighting student and staff support. Special shoutout to our Network Teams, who also delivered a wonderful presentation highlighting their important roles in the school community.

For December’s STEAM challenge at Smith STEAM Academy, students were tasked with designing and constructing different models of paper circuits. To start the day off, Ray Ames, founder of Young Thinkers of York, served as the guest speaker and our students also received a surprise visit from Dr. Andrea Berry-Brown, Superintendent of Schools.

A group of William Penn Senior High School students, accompanied by Ms. Schmuck and Mr. Gross, recently attended Harrisburg University of Science and Technology's Inaugural Computer Science Day. There were 8 teams, comprised of students from 10 different schools. Throughout the day, these teams worked on a variety of computer science related projects, from creating a text-based adventure game to performing security tests on a web application.
Dalbeuris Franco and Lizevel Duran were on the winning team, and a team comprised of only William Penn students, Dimir Andino, Alicia Gonzalez Mercado, Isabella Hernandez, Leeandrew Berdecia, and Saniyah Brooks won second place. Congratulations to our Bearcats on their efforts and for representing WPSHS with #BearcatPride! 🐾

Due to road conditions and low temperatures, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, has been designated a Virtual Learning Day for all students, teachers, and 10-month employees. 12-month employees will still report to their buildings or use accrued leave if needed. District offices will open at their normal time. Thank you.

Thank you to the Peyton Walker Foundation for their generous donation of a climate-controlled AED cabinet at William Penn Senior High School’s athletic fields. This installation ensures 24/7/365 access to life-saving equipment for students, staff, and athletes who use the surrounding fields and facilities. We are grateful for this partnership and the commitment to keeping our Bearcat community safe!

We would like to congratulate two of our 1st Grade classrooms of English Learners who were recently recognized statewide by Imagine Learning through the Pennsylvania Imagine Learning Cup competition. This recognition is awarded to classrooms where students demonstrate outstanding progress in English Language Development (ELD) and complete at least 240 minutes of Imagine Learning in a month.
🐾 September Winner: Jackson PreK-8, Ms. Youngblood’s 1st Grade Class, supported by ELD Specialist Christina Highsmith
🐾 October Winner: Hannah Penn PreK-8, Ms. Samantha Fritz’s 1st Grade Class, supported by ELD Specialist Barbie Pabon Reyes
Both EL classrooms were among only three classrooms in Pennsylvania to win for two consecutive months!

Our Pre-K team recently hosted a fun and meaningful Early Childhood Family Night focused on building social-emotional skills. Parents learned helpful strategies with First 10, while students enjoyed a dance lesson with Children’s Movement Circus. Families ended the night together with hands-on activity stations that supported SEL growth.
