The William Penn Senior High School College and Career Readiness Program and Talent Search Program recently took a group of William Penn SHS students to Shippensburg University for a tour of the campus. During the tour, students were able to engage with Shippensburg University faculty and staff, learn about the programs, campus resources, and the overall student experience. 🐾

Earlier this school year, the district's 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 series brought together our incredible paraprofessionals for impactful team-building and skill-building sessions. They’ve grown stronger, more connected, and ready to support our students!

The piano lab at William Penn Senior High School has been revitalized with 20 new Yamaha Clavinova pianos! Special thanks to Ms. Ellen Ditmer, Choral Director and Piano Teacher, for leading the project, and to district administration, the school board, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kate Fritz for their support. Menchey Music assisted by removing the old keyboards and setting up the new pianos for our students to enjoy!

Some of our William Penn Senior High School STEAM Academy students recently attended a Women in STEAM conference hosted by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's WTS program. Our students analyzed different dynamics that aide in designing traffic intersections, built mock retaining walls, and spoke to various professionals throughout the transportation industry.
Congratulations to Senior, Erica Nhor on receiving a $1,500 scholarship. Students, Akira Williams Latorre and Trinity Miles, were part of a team that won the retaining wall challenge.

Some of our young Bearcats at McKinley PreK-8 had fun participating in McKinley's first ever Thanksgiving balloon parade today! Other classes stood in the hallways and clapped and cheered for students as they passed by. 🐾
Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy recently held their STEAM challenge for the month of November. Students were tasked with imagining, exploring and investigating shapes used to create the Fibonacci Sequence. Devers PreK-8 took center stage at our School Board meeting last evening with a fantastic presentation, showcasing what makes their school special, sharing data, and highlighting student and staff support.
A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Celebrating Families Award to Breauja Banks, who exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated partner in education.

This week, SDCY Administration was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend the Early Childhood Education Spotlight. We’re proud to highlight the incredible work being done with our littlest Bearcats and to emphasize the importance of early childhood education in building strong foundations for lifelong learning.
Some of our students at McKinley PreK-8 recently created their own logo for their self created company. They created the design, used the Cricut to cut the vinyl, and then used the heat press to finalize their design. Awesome job Bearcats! 🐾
Bearcat Families: This is a reminder that tomorrow, November 20, 2024, will be an Early Dismissal for all students. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM and will complete asynchronous assignments the remainder portion of the school day.

Penn State Talent Search and College & Career Programs sponsored William Penn High School female students who recently attended the Bold Futures Leadership Summit: Women in Business at York College. Students engaged in meaningful discussions and also had the opportunity to hear from business speakers and a guest panel, all of whom are working within the field of business. 🐾
